LSI Lab clarification

 Greetings,  Please note that Section 2 students are to  Collect samples at only one location (see the white board in the lab for assignments) Collect one hot water sample and one cold water sample for calcium determination. These samples will be collected in the bottles containing nitric acid. Label properly and place in the refrigerator in lab.  Collect one hot water sample and one cold water sample for all other determinations (pH, temperature, conductivity, and alkalinity) Note any color, turbidity, or smell associated with the water samples Determine all parameters in triplicate and calculate the mean and standard deviation.  All students: Make sure to upload your data onto the Google sheet .  If you don't know your team number, check the team assignment sheet on LON-CAPA. ENE 480 Week 5

Greetings, I hope you are having a good weekend and are taking time to rest and regroup.  On Monday in lecture, I will go over the sampling and analysis that you will conduct in lab this week and next. Please make sure to attend class in person or via Zoom and look over the material that is posted in the Lab 1: Determining LSI   folder prior to lab this week.  Assignment 1 is due this Friday, September 30 by 11:59 PM. If you need the 48 hr grace period, please let me know and I will reset the due date for you.  Participation Question 4 is also due this Friday. And yes, Fall came quickly, pushing summer out earlier this week. I love this time of year and was very happy to get out for a walk with a good friend this morning!  Have a great rest of your day.   I walked four miles Saturday, which made me very, very happy.   Greetings, I want to remind you that Monday's lecture has been pre-recorded and the link is posted on LON-CAPA in the Lab 1 folder. I apologize for this but our ABET accreditation visit is this week and as lead for the ENE program and co-lead for the CE program, I must be available to the evaluators.  Monday's lecture provides background material for Lab 1, which you will work on the weeks of 9/26 and October 3.  I have also provided review material on hardness and alkalinity in the Lab 1 folder.  9/10/2022 Greetings, On Monday, I will lecture on Health and Safety Plans. We will meet in the classroom (Anthony 1257). If you are unable to attend in person, please do so on Zoom. The link is in the syllabus and on LON-CAPA. I will record the lecture and will provide the link on LON-CAPA. This week in lab we will work on Health and Safety Plans, which will be specific to ENE 480. We will meet in the Trans Lab (EB 3560). If you are unable to meet in person due to illness or official university business, please contact me before the start of lab to make other arrangements. You will have sufficient time to complete the HASP during lab and it is due at the end of lab. Team assignments are posted on LON-CAPA. ENE 480 Week 2

5 September 2022 I hope you all had a wonderful relaxing weekend.   This week we wil l meet in lab.  Please arrive on time. However, if you are ill, please let me know so that alternative arrangement can be made for a make-up lab. Please do not attend lab if you are feeling ill and/or have tested positive within ten days prior to lab. The focus of this week's lab is safety training. Joseph will distribute the two safety forms you will need to complete, sign, have Joseph or Shardula sign, scan, and then upload to LON-CAPA. After the in-lab training, you will then work in the trans lab to complete the requisite EHS training and the safety quiz. Shardula will be available in the trans lab to answer questions. I will post team assignments this evening.  This week, you'll want something to take notes on, which you can then use for the safety quiz.
